Gear Review: Bumbo

This isn’t your typical outdoor ‘gear’ item for tykes but I have to say it was one of the best pieces we ever invested in. The Bumbo went EVERYWHERE with us. When J-Man was an infant this is a piece of gear that we never left home without.

When J-Man couldn’t sit up on his own he was still able to participate in our activities while sitting in the Bumbo. He didn’t have to lay on his back starring at the sky. He would watch us pitch a tent, view the expansive ocean, examine an indian ruin or take in the smell of wildflowers in a meadow.

When he was able to sit up on his own we still used the Bumbo. We attached the tray with a toy or two and that would keep him occupied while we did chores around camp.

The Bumbo is lightweight, durable, easy to clean and compact enough that it doesn’t take up too much room.

The next time you are heading outdoors with your tyke who isn’t sitting up on their own take the Bumbo along. Your tyke will have a better view of their experience.

What piece of outdoor gear for your tyke do you never leave home without?

  1. This is fantastic!! And I agree – the Bumbo is a must have and so easy to travel with. Great post.

  2. I love these! I was reluctant to give it up when my son grew out of it. But I did pass it on to someone who I know will get good use out of it.

    • It is one of the best items for babies and so versatile. Thanks for the comment. Hope your friend is getting good use out of it.

  3. My issue with the bumbo was that my daughter wouldn’t fit in it!! 🙂

    • Maybe they need to make them in different sizes. 😉 I know J-Man didn’t fit in well for awhile. I had to tuck blankets around him.
