Just a reminder:
There is a saying…it’s not about the destination but the journey. That is so true!
Life these days is so hectic that we don’t take the time to enjoy the journey. The focus is always on the destination or the final result. Before having kids it was about getting as many miles in on a hike, a run or bagging that peak as fast as possible. Now, it is time to stop and smell the wildflowers! Enjoy the scenery, the fresh air and time with your tykes. Stop along the trail and check out the big spruce tree, the low lying ferns, the saguaro cactus or the mountain stream. Examine the rocks, the bugs on the ground or smell the needles of a pine tree. For young tykes, remember that the sites, sounds and smells are new and fresh and although they may not show excitement or interest it is still leaving an impression. For older tykes it is fun to bring along a flora & fauna or geology book of the area and try and identify pictures from the book.Utilize this time to bond with your tykes and to relax. If you make it to the summit or your destination, then bonus! But if you don’t, that is ok, too.
